1.0 GENERAL STANDARDS

The Authority has adopted the A/E/C CADD Standard release 1.8 distributed by the Tri-
Service CADD/GIS Technology Center, published by the U.S. Army Engineer Research and
Development Center, which is available on the Web at http://tsc/wes/army.mil. This standard
should be followed at all times, except where this manual, herein, has made some
modifications that take precedence over the A/E/ C CADD Standard.

1.1 LIMITATIONS OF CADD FILES

CADD files can contain text, primitive elements (lines, areas, and shapes), or grouped
elements (cells, graphic groups, or complex elements). AutoCAD drawing files should not
contain the following elements: Shape symbol fonts, Mtext, Rtext, OLE frame, Ray, Xline,
Proxy objects.

1.2 BASIC DRAWING FILE STANDARDS

1.2.1 All CADD model files shall strictly adhere to the A/E/C discipline and naming conventions of
the CADD Standards.

1.2.2 The final plot size for drawings shall be established according to the Authority Design
Manual; see the Authority Design Manual, Section II, Paragraph 2.6.3 titled "Drawing Sizes".

1.2.3 The drawing/working units for all civil drawings shall be developed in engineering units. All
other disciplines shall be developed using architectural units. The default Bentley
MicroStation working units for the civil design files are 12:8000 for the Washington National
Airport and 10:1000 for the Dulles International Airport.
If MicroStation is used for disciplines other than Civil/Site drawings, the working unit of
12:8000 should be used for both airports.
